At Airmaxx we know that being transparent with our customers about pricing could sometimes lose us the opportunity to gain another customer. However, we are more interested in great long-term trustworthy relationships. We want our customer to call when they need our service and have no doubt that we are going to treat them like family. So, we may lose some opportunities, but we gain much more with the value that we receive from the trusting customers that we have gained over the years. We continue to fight the unscrupulous HVAC contractors in Minooka that have the “replace every air conditioner that they go to repair” mentality. The AirMaxx way is to repair first and replace last. Some HVAC repair companies in Minooka have a free service call. Some air conditioning companies in Minooka separate their service call fee from their diagnostic fee. Some heating and cooling companies in Minooka IL advertise no extra fees, no overtime fees, and no door charges. Imagine a company that comes to tell you what is wrong with your air conditioner for free & then just leaves your home because you can’t afford to repair the unit at that time or you can’t afford to have a new air conditioner installed. House not Cooling?

We had a question come up today about a home that never seemed to cool off during the day, but would get comfortable in the evening. Couple of things come to mind here.

One possible reason is that the AC is undersized.  This can be figured out by having an HVAC company perform a Load Calculation (measurement of how much heat is gained in the summer & how much heat you loose in the winter from your home). There is special software that is used to help make this determination.  Another possibility is an under charged unit (not enough, or low, refrigerant).  HVAC companies have tools to measure if this is the case.  A Third potential cause of your home not cooling properly is infiltration air (accidential air that does not come from the conditioned space, like an hot attic or the outside).  An HVAC tech can measure the temperature of the air coming thru the AC Coil & determine if this is the case.

Sizing Air Conditioners Properly

Be mindful that when properly sizing your air conditioning system for your home there are more factors involved than just the square footage of your home.

Your A/C is sized for an outdoor temperature of 88 degrees in the summer. So when it is above 88 degrees your air conditioner is now too small, undersized. You may find that it will run longer to cool your home. If it is older, dirty, and 100 degrees outside than it could be a recipe for disaster.

Cool off your A/C today with a watering from your hose. They get hot too, & it will help the system work better.

Problems with Air Conditioner

There are times when AirMaxx is called out to perform a routine cleaning and diagnostic for an Air Conditioner in Plainfield, Channahon, or Minooka Illinois.

The homeowner may suspect that the system just hasn’t been cooling like it used to, or they are habitual in their maintenance process & this is something they do every year.

When we are called to perform such a service, we are performing an evaluation of the air conditioner and cleaning it to perform as well as it can, based on its age and issues.  Older air conditioning systems do often times leak refrigerant and this leaking process can be slow or fast.

We seem to be the ones that gives both good and bad news, and at times, it may be perceived as trying to sell a new air conditioner. Leaking Air Conditioner?

Water leaking from the air conditioner drips from the cooler.I hate to be the one with the bad news, but a leak is one of the worst things to have go wrong with your Air Conditioner.  I hope it is not that.  I am linking to an EPA article explaining the phase out of R22.  Click Here for EPA article.

Due to this phase out of R22, the price has been sky rocketing.  Every year we get closer to the end (2020).  I do not purchase it anymore, but I do have inventory for warranty situations only.

They do make a substitute refrigerant but it CANNOT be mixed with R22.

I would be glad to diagnose the problem, but it is no longer the days of just recharge it and see if it last until next year, the cost is a waste of your money.

BEWARE OF COMPANIES PUTTING DIRTY OLD R22 FROM OLD AIR CONDITIONS THAT THEY REMOVED FROM SOMEONE ELSE’S HOME INTO YOURS AS A FIX.

The new air conditioners use R410A, it is less expensive but it can not work in R22 air conditioners.

It has been about 8 years since we have installed an R22 system, we only install R410A units.

We obviously service all but a leak on an R22 required more explaining.
